A fire sprinkler system installation technician foreman leads installation crews in layout, installation, and modificatory of fire sprinkler systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and code compliance. The foreman ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate installation crews on job sites.
  • Interpret and implement construction drawings, specifications, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor crew productivity and performance.
  • Oversee the installation of all fire sprinkler system components, including piping, hangers, valves, and equipment.
  • Ensure systems are installed according to NFPA standards, local, state, and federal codes.
  • Conduct on-site quality checks and confirm accurate measurements, pipe routing, and system layout.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, inspectors, project managers, supervisors, and other trades.
  • Track material usage, request supplies, and manage inventory on job site.
  • Help perform system tests and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and project documentation.
  • Enforce safety procedures and ensure a clean & safe working environment.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and helpers in proper installation techniques.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, fire codes, and system installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficient in pipe fittings, threading, grooving, and system layout.
  • Value driver’s license, ability to travel to job sites as needed.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage crew workloads on tight timelines.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, lifts, and job-site equipment.
  • Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work in various work environments (examples: heights, attics, crawl spaces, outdoors, etc.)
