Job Overview
Bee Sweet Citrus is seeking an experienced Line Manager to support the day-to-day operation of our fresh citrus production facility. This position provides hands-on leadership on the production floor and works closely with the Production Manager to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards.
The Line Manager will oversee assigned production areas, provide direction and support to Production Supervisors and Coordinators/Team Leads, monitor workflow and employee performance, and respond to operational issues throughout the shift.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Support daily production activities across assigned packing lines and production areas.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to Production Supervisors, Coordinators/Team Leads, and production employees.
- Monitor production workflow, staffing, line efficiency, and employee performance throughout the shift.
- Help ensure production lines are properly staffed, prepared, and operating efficiently.
- Identify production issues and respond quickly to minimize interruptions and maintain workflow.
- Communicate staffing needs, production concerns, equipment issues, and other operational updates to production management.
- Monitor product quality and ensure established packing and grading standards are followed.
- Support inventory tracking and accurate documentation of product movement and packed product.
- Ensure company safety, food safety, quality, and operational procedures are followed throughout assigned areas.
- Conduct routine floor observations and address safety or quality concerns as they arise.
- Support the training and onboarding of new employees, including equipment procedures, production expectations, quality standards, and safe work practices.
- Coach employees and provide ongoing feedback to reinforce performance expectations.
- Assist management with employee performance evaluations by providing accurate observations and feedback.
- Identify employees with leadership potential and support their continued development.
- Complete and maintain required production, attendance, and operational documentation.
- Communicate effectively with other production leaders to coordinate changes in production priorities, staffing, and customer orders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, coach, and hold employees accountable.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to identify and resolve operational problems in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when completing production and inventory documentation.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing production schedules, product varieties, staffing needs, and priorities.
- Basic math skills and the ability to track production counts and other operational information.
- Ability to read and understand production and inventory documentation.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, food safety, product quality, and company standards.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently move throughout production areas and between multiple production lines.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb stairs, and safely navigate a production environment.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 50 pounds as needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, conveyors, forklifts, and other production equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in areas with elevated noise levels.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and refrigerated areas.
- Ability to respond promptly to safety, quality, production, and operational issues throughout the facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in a packing house, food manufacturing, production, warehouse, or distribution environment
- 4+ years of progressively responsible leadership, supervisory or management experience
- Citrus packing experience strongly preferred
- Previous Team Lead, Production Supervisor, or other production leadership experience.
- Previous experience in fresh produce, food processing, or agriculture preferred.
- $75,000 - $95,000 annually DOE
