Overview
 
As a Senior Accountant you will help manage high-level accounting operations for our client’s real estate portfolios. This includes evaluating existing procedures and processes and innovating new and improved methods of reconciliations, reports, analyses, and budgeting. You will perform initial reviews of relevant investment agreements and must understand what information must be included in investor records. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead transition meetings for each new asset or financing, liaising between the accounting and deal teams.
• Maintain and analyze budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budget to actual;
• Update and maintain investor records for the entire portfolio of investments;
• Prepare and review capital activity for capital calls and distributions;
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance;
• Make informed recommendations to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounting processes;
• Lead transition meetings between deal teams and accounting to effectively onboard each new asset or 
financing;
• Conduct technical accounting research ensuring all internal accounting standards are current; and
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and internal partners.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience required
• Public accounting experience preferred, from a Big 4 firm, or similar
• Experience in a client-facing role preferred
• Investment accounting experience is highly desirable
• Highly proficient in business related software: Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
• Experience in MRI, Netsuite, or similar accounting system
• Bachelor’s degree required
• CPA obtained or in progress with end date within 1 year of hire

• Job Knowledge & Technical Ability: Strong technical knowledge in accounting, specifically within financial services and commercial real estate, including includes experience with REIT compliance, 10- K/Q reporting, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Ability to read and analyze investment and lease agreements.
• Initiative & Dependability: Ability to perform responsibilities independently and proactively, solve problems, and improve processes and/or services. Self-directed, takes initiative and responsibility, ensures completion of tasks.

  •  Travel is not anticipated, but may be needed from time to time.
