Quick Summary
Working knowledge of residential construction and an understanding of how design, specifications, sequencing, trade work, and inspections affect the finished home. Demonstrated ability to coach,
We want every family who buys a Betenbough home to receive a home that withstands time—and a world-class experience when they need us after closing.
The Warranty Coach helps make that possible in two important ways: by developing the people who care for our homeowners and by turning what we learn through warranty into better building.
You'll work alongside Warranty Technicians and Managers to strengthen technical skills, administrative practices, customer-first decision-making, and consistency across our regions. You'll also use Warranty's unique vantage point at the end of the build process to identify recurring issues, trace them back to their source, and partner with Construction, Trade Partners, and support teams to create solutions that last.
Success here looks like stronger people, better processes, more consistent practices, and problems that stop repeating.
Responsibilities
~2 min readCoach and develop the Warranty team. Spend time in the field alongside Warranty Technicians, providing hands-on coaching around technical skills, administrative practices, problem-solving, and customer-first decision-making. Partner with Technicians and Managers to build confidence, capability, and ownership of the quality of their work and its impact on homeowners.
Own Warranty training. Create, develop, and maintain Warranty training content and certifications, including both in-person and online learning. Identify where additional development is needed and turn strong practices into repeatable training that equips the entire team.
Find the pattern. Work through Warranty data, field observations, and team feedback to separate one-time issues from recurring problems and identify when different claims may point back to the same underlying cause.
Trace it back and build the case. Follow recurring issues upstream through the build to understand where they're originating. The cause might be a design detail, specification, Trade Partner scope, sequencing decision, inspection step, or how a process is being carried out in the field. Use data, rework costs, frequency, Warranty hours, homeowner impact, and other relevant information to make the issue clear and actionable.
Work the fix through the people who own it. Bring issues to the right people and partner with Builders, Construction Managers, Trade Partners, Warranty Managers, and support teams to develop solutions. Stay connected through implementation and follow up to determine whether the change is actually working.
Strengthen our systems and processes. Continually look for Warranty processes that are slower or more manual than they need to be and where existing systems or tools are being underused or worked around. Help teams understand the impact, improve adoption, strengthen data quality, and develop better tools or processes when needed.
Create consistency across regions. Look for what's working exceptionally well and help bring those practices to other teams. Serve as a Warranty subject matter expert, contribute guidance and perspective during Warranty meetings, and help create alignment, accountability, and follow-through across regions.
- You genuinely enjoy helping people get better at what they do and aren't afraid to coach in the moment.
- You can move comfortably between teaching someone a technical skill, helping them think differently about a homeowner experience, and digging into data to understand a larger problem.
- You get genuinely bothered when the same problem shows up twice.
- You'd rather fix the cause than get credit for catching it.
- You enjoy digging into information until you understand what's really happening.
- You notice when one team has figured something out and immediately start thinking about how others could benefit from it.
- You can challenge someone's approach or process and have them walk away from the conversation feeling respected.
- You can press for a needed change while maintaining strong relationships with the people responsible for carrying it out.
- You're comfortable being wrong and equally comfortable when the better solution comes from the person across the table.
- You take ownership beyond identifying the problem—you want to see the solution implemented, taught, adopted, and working.
Great coaching isn't simply telling someone what to do, and great analysis isn't enough if it never results in change.
You'll need to move comfortably between developing people, diagnosing problems, influencing others, building solutions, and following up to make sure those solutions actually worked.
Many of the people you'll coach and partner with won't report directly to you. Your effectiveness will come from construction credibility, curiosity, communication, persistence, and trust—not from positional authority.
You'll also need the humility to recognize that the best solution may come from the person across the table. The goal isn't to win an argument or own the idea. It's to help our people, processes, and homes get better.
Required:
- Working knowledge of residential construction and an understanding of how design, specifications, sequencing, trade work, and inspections affect the finished home.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, train, or develop others through hands-on feedback and practical learning.
- Comfort working with data and reporting tools, including the ability to identify trends and communicate findings in a clear, useful way.
- Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate, and drive change with people who don't report directly to you.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to navigate challenging conversations while maintaining healthy working relationships.
- Ability to move between detailed problem-solving, people development, and broader process improvement.
Preferred:
- Experience in homebuilding, residential construction, or Warranty.
- Background in continuous improvement, quality assurance, or process design.
- Experience developing training content, facilitating technical training, or creating repeatable learning resources.
- Experience implementing process changes or improving adoption of business systems.
Excellence means refusing to settle for a fix that only works this time. We want to continually improve the quality of our work, the capability of our people, and the homes we deliver.
Generous Stewardship means recognizing that rework costs time, money, and attention that could have been invested elsewhere while protecting the homeowner's confidence in what we've built.
Unity matters because lasting change happens with and through the people already doing the work. The goal isn't to win an argument; it's to build better solutions together and share what we're learning across teams and regions.
Growth runs both directions. You'll coach and challenge others toward better ways of working while remaining curious, humble, and coachable yourself.

What We Offer
~1 min readYour impact will show up in both the people we develop and the homes we build.
You'll help Warranty Technicians and Managers strengthen their technical skills, decision-making, consistency, and ability to serve homeowners well. You'll help take what one region is doing exceptionally well and turn it into something our Warranty teams can learn from across the company.
And because Warranty sees the results of decisions made throughout the entire build process, you'll help turn what we learn after closing into better decisions before the next home is built.
A recurring problem prevented means fewer Warranty claims, less rework for our teams and Trade Partners, better use of our resources, stronger processes, and—most importantly—a better experience for the families who trust us with their home.
Your impact won't just be measured by the problems you solve. It will be seen in the people who grow, the practices that improve, and the problems that stop happening.
If you enjoy developing people as much as you enjoy solving problems—and you're the kind of person who sees something happening repeatedly and has to understand why—we'd love to meet you.
Bring your construction knowledge, coaching mindset, curiosity, and ability to influence change, and help us strengthen our Warranty teams while turning what we learn today into better-built homes tomorrow.
