Responsibilities

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement or a closely related field, and one (1) year criminal justice system experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of criminal justice system; knowledge of the Criminal Justice Information System, National Criminal Information Center and Texas Criminal Information Center databases

Skill in interpreting regulatory legislation regarding detention and release guidelines; skill to perform basic mathematical calculations
- →
Ability to communicate effectively with hostile, abusive or irrational individuals; ability to operate personal computer and basic office equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, outside organizations, attorneys, court officials, law enforcement agencies and the general public

Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance

Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test

Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish

Must obtain National Criminal Information Center, Texas Criminal Information Center certification within one (1) year of employment

Must obtain a Notary Public certification within one (1) year of employment

Must have a valid driver's license
- →
Must have motor vehicle liability insurance, personal injury insurance and a personal vehicle

Required to work shifts

May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working conditions are primarily indoors
Required to work in jail environment with frequent exposure to hostile people and infectious diseases
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
Occasionally moves about the office
Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Positions self to perform essential functions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
