Processes and updates property tax payments received by mail and walk-in

Researches and resolves routine property tax and refund issues

Sorts, counts and logs daily mail
- →
Prepares refund memos regarding overpayments of property taxes
- →
Assists taxpayer in the completion of property tax payment arrangements and updates account information
- →
Issues tax certificates to appropriate individuals
- →
Calculates taxes, refunds, penalties and interest and costs
- →
Maintains files such as tax payment arrangements, mortgage documents and refund checks

Performs related duties as required
Requirements
~1 min readGraduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate; and one (1) year office experience in a cash collections environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of basic office procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy; ability to operate a personal computer, 10-key adding machine, typewriter and basic office equipment; ability to accurately enter data; ability to deal with hostile or irrational people; ability to understand and follow verbal instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees and the general public
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
