Job Summary

The EHS Specialist serves as a strategic business partner to site leadership, integrating environmental, health, and safety priorities into daily operations, business planning, and performance improvement. This role leads site-wide EHS programs, strengthens regulatory compliance and risk mitigation, uses data and analytics to identify trends and priorities, and drives the digitization of EHS processes to improve visibility, accountability, and employee engagement. The role partners cross-functionally to build a proactive safety culture, improve operational resilience, and deliver practical, sustainable continuous improvement across the site and the broader North American network.



Role Specific Requirements

  • Serve as a strategic EHS business partner to the Pomona site leadership team, translating EHS requirements into practical operational plans, priorities, and business decisions.
  • Lead EHS strategy and execution for Pomona and other Bimeda sites in North America in alignment with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, HR, and site leadership to embed EHS ownership into daily management routines and decision-making.
  • Use analytics, leading and lagging indicators, incident trends, audit findings, and risk assessments to identify priorities, influence action, and measure EHS performance.
  • Drive the digitization of EHS processes, including electronic reporting, automated workflows, dashboards, compliance tracking, document control, and action-management tools.
  • Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, mobile reporting, data visualization, and workflow automation, to improve EHS efficiency, quality of analysis, and user experience.
  • Manage compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, FDA, hazardous materials, environmental, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee site-wide inspections, audits, risk assessments, regulatory inspections, corrective action plans, and verification of effectiveness.
  • Utilizing technology, develop and maintain chemical inventories, safety data sheet systems, hazardous materials controls, and related compliance documentation.
  • Coach and support leaders through incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons-learned sharing across departments and sites.
  • Design, implement, and monitor EHS training programs, competency requirements, compliance calendars, and completion tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that reduce risk, simplify processes, strengthen accountability, and improve operational performance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness, business continuity, spill response, and site response planning activities in partnership with functional leaders.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external auditors, consultants, business partners, and regulatory agencies in a professional and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Champion environmental protection, sustainability, waste reduction, pollution prevention, and resource conservation efforts.
  • Mentor EHS team members, supervisors, and cross-functional safety champions to build capability and strengthen engagement.
  • Prepare clear, data-driven EHS reports, dashboards, business updates, and recommendations for site and senior leadership.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

  • Working conditions: warehouse and production environments. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and machinery. PPE required in certain areas.
  • Physical demands: walking, standing, and occasional lifting.
  • May require work outside regular hours or weekends.

What We Are Looking For

Required:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive EHS experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a business partner to operations and site leadership, with strong influencing and change-management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, FDA, and relevant environmental, health, safety, and hazardous materials regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience leading EHS programs, audits, investigations, corrective actions, training, and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Comfortable using emerging technologies, EHS management systems, analytics tools, dashboards, and digital workflows to improve EHS performance and user adoption.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office; strong Excel and data-analysis capability required. Experience with Power BI, EHS Insight, or similar systems is an asset.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, coaching, and technical writing skills.


Preferred:

  • Professional certifications such as ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, FDA-regulated, chemical, or animal health manufacturing environments.
  • Experience implementing or optimizing EHS software, digital reporting tools, dashboards, compliance calendars, or automated action-tracking workflows.
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, operational excellence, or structured continuous improvement methods.
