Binnie is looking for a Civil Technologist to Transportation Major Projects Division, which provides Owner’s Engineer services for the design and procurement of major infrastructure projects in British Columbia.
Our recent projects include the Patullo Bridge Replacement Project, Fraser River Tunnel Project and Steveston Interchange Project.
The position is full-time in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake. You will be working with our talented and supportive team of experienced Project Managers, Engineers, Technologists, Designers, and CAD Technicians on a wide range of land development projects
You will carry out design work, CAD assignments, and site inspections. This role offers great mentorship opportunities.
YOUR ROLE:
- Preparing drafting and design tasks using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Preparing basic design calculations, analyses, and reports
- Performing and documenting quality control checks on drafting and design work in accordance with Binnie’s quality management policies and procedures.
- Calculating design quantities for materials and preparation of cost estimates
- Assisting in the preparation of project specifications and contract documents
- Performing on-site inspection duties and inspection reports
WHAT YOU BRING:
- 0 – 1+ years of experience on projects in a civil consulting engineering environment for Technologist role
- Completed Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field
- Eligible to register as a Trainee Registrant with ASTTBC or as a Technician/Technologist-in Training (T.T.) with ASET (must be done within first three months of employment)
- Previous hands-on experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
- Previous experience in stormwater management design, civil roadworks, and servicing design preferred
- Previous field experience preferred
- Valid Driver’s License and own vehicle for site visits
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $57,190 - $79,400 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
