VDC Coordinator

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations the VDC/BIM Coordinator will oversee on-site Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)/Building Information Modeling (BIM), related project coordination, including model coordination with consultant and trade contractors. They will also facilitate the implementation of Digital Construction amongst the project team.

This position is based out of the West Edmonton, AB office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various project duties related to project VDC/BIM deployment as required.

  • Perform Design coordination and assist in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors.

  • Facilitate, in conjunction with the site team, the site logistics plan in a model environment and assist the site team in the development of schedule visualization models.

  • Responsible as “Model Administrator” for assigned projects.

  • Assist training project staff and subcontractors on VDC/BIM related software and workflows as required.

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned by the East BIM/VDC Manager.

Requirements

  • Maintain and facilitate models including structure, interior and exterior architectural elements and MEP systems.

  • Coordinate with BIM service providers and subcontractors.

  • Assist in the model development process to illustrate contractor questions and solutions.

  • Coordinate 3D laser scans/point cloud models.

  • Accumulate facilities management related information from project stakeholders for incorporation into VDC/BIM model. 

  • Distribute new and revised models as applicable to Change Management documentation.

  • Compile contract VDC close out documentation as assigned.

  • Work with the project team to develop and implement schedule visualization workflows.

  • Educate and guide the site team on the workflows related to schedule visualization.

  • Prepare 4D simulations on an ad-hoc basis.

​​​​Consultant Coordination

  • Assist the project teams to develop a healthy dialog with consultants and designers.

  • Facilitate the timely and orderly collection and/or coordination of all consultant BIM models.

  • Coordinate with consultant Model Managers and Coordinators, to clarify and update consultant design models.

  • Lead model coordination meetings.

  • Assist in the administration of the BIM Execution Plan as prescribed by either the Consultant or Client.

  • Assist with updating, maintaining, and distributing documents to the field and subcontractors.

  • Lead model coordination meetings.

  • Assist in the coordination of models with internal and external subcontractor detailers and modelers.

  • Record coordination sign offs.

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture

  • Completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent an asset

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience working with VDC/BIM related software, primarily Revit

  • Construction knowledge and/or related work experience an asset

  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and a general understanding of MS Project/Primavera P6

  • Ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and work with a degree of autonomy

  • Highly motivated individual who embraces initiative and is results-oriented

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals

  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment

  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them

  • Strong organization, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
