Responsibilities

  • Lead quality reviews at key design and documentation milestones to improve coordination, technical accuracy, and overall document readiness.
  • Review drawing sets and related materials for code alignment, constructability, accessibility, life safety, and general completeness.
  • Partner with project teams early to identify risk areas, set review expectations, and support smooth project execution without disrupting deadlines.
  • Provide technical guidance on permitting questions, agency comments, zoning considerations, and documentation challenges.
  • Help teams prepare and refine code summaries, life safety narratives, accessibility diagrams, and other compliance focused materials.
  • Evaluate internal and consultant produced documents to uncover conflicts, gaps, and opportunities to improve clarity and coordination.
  • Support construction phase quality efforts by advising on RFIs, submittals, substitutions, and related documentation questions to confirm alignment with design intent.
  • Strengthen firmwide standards for drawing production, quality review workflows, detailing consistency, and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Collaborate with digital practice leaders to improve templates, sheet organization, model standards, and review tools that support better documentation outcomes.
  • Contribute to lessons learned reviews, recurring issue tracking, and staff training initiatives that raise technical knowledge across the organization.
  • Mentor team members through practical feedback, quality focused coaching, and education around documentation best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Roughly 10 or more years of experience in architecture, construction documentation, technical design review, or quality management.
  • California architecture license preferred, or strong progress toward licensure.
  • Deep knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, life safety principles, and permitting workflows in California.
  • Strong technical understanding of architectural detailing, building systems, and current construction practices.
  • Experience reviewing plans and specifications for coordination, compliance, and buildability.
  • Familiarity with construction administration processes including RFIs, submittals, substitutions, and field related documentation.
  • Advanced Bluebeam skills, including digital markups, comparison tools, and collaborative review workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and or AutoCAD for navigating and reviewing design documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence teams through clear, constructive, and practical feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple reviews at once while staying highly organized and detail oriented.
