Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Lead and support mechanical system design for building projects, including HVAC and related systems across a variety of project types
- →Develop detailed engineering drawings, system layouts, and technical specifications for assigned project components
- →Perform engineering calculations, load analyses, and system sizing to support design decisions
- →Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, coordinated design solutions
- →Prepare cost estimates, evaluate equipment selections, and review vendor submittals for compliance with project requirements
- →Support development of technical documentation, including evaluations of asset lifecycle expenses and assessments of facility conditions
- →Participate in field investigations, site visits, and data collection to support project execution
- →Assist in refining internal design standards, best practices, and engineering processes
- →Support and mentor junior engineering staff, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing
- →Engage in continuous learning to stay current with evolving technologies, codes, and industry trends
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Around 6–9 years of hands-on experience in mechanical system design for buildings and infrastructure
- Fundamentals of Engineering certification required, with progression toward Professional Engineer licensure
- Strong experience with engineering design software and modeling tools
- Solid understanding of HVAC systems, building systems integration, and design methodologies
- Ability to manage assigned project tasks independently while collaborating effectively with broader teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in fieldwork and site evaluations as needed
- Actively pursuing or having obtained a Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience supporting healthcare, institutional, or complex facility projects
- Interest in sustainable design, energy efficiency, and high-performance buildings
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
