MarketingPerformance Marketer

instantprint is the UK’s largest online-printer, helping over a million small businesses create and buy print products that make them look exceptional.

We are looking for a commercially-minded Performance Marketing Manager to own and grow our acquisition channels. This role sits at the centre of how customers find us — from paid search to the newest frontier of discovery, Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), where customers increasingly find brands through AI assistants and answer engines rather than traditional search results.

You'll be responsible for the full performance marketing mix, plus identifying and testing new acquisition channels. Above all, you will be responsible for return on investment. Every channel you run, every test you launch, and every pound of budget you deploy should be justified by the revenue and profit it drives, not by vanity metrics.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role suited to someone who is equally comfortable building a bid strategy in Google Ads, briefing technical SEO fixes to a dev team, and pitching a new channel test to senior stakeholders with a clear ROI case attached.

About the Role

  • Salary range £50,000 - £60,000, depending on experience
  • This position is office based, 5 days a week, at our site in Manvers, Rotherham.
  • Permanent, full-time
  • Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Own strategy, budget allocation and continuous optimisation of paid search (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads) across a multi-category product range.
  • Set and manage target ROI by product category, continuously reallocating spend towards the highest-margin, highest-return activity.
  • Build and refine bidding strategies, campaign structures, and audience/keyword targeting to reduce wasted spend.
  • Partner with analytics/BI to ensure accurate conversion tracking, attribution and reporting of true marketing contribution (not just platform-reported conversions).
  • Develop instantprint's approach to visibility in AI-driven search and answer engines (e.g. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews), ensuring our products and content are structured to be found, cited and recommended.
  • Audit and improve how our site and content are understood by AI crawlers and large language models, working with web/dev teams on structured data, content clarity and technical accessibility.
  • Stay ahead of how customers' search and discovery behaviour is shifting, and adapt strategy accordingly.
  • Work with web and product teams to fix SEO crawlability, indexation and structured data issues, and to improve page experience and rankings.
  • Work with the eCommerce & Marketing teams to set the organic search strategy and roadmap, covering technical SEO, on-page optimisation, content and site structure.
  • Identify, pitch and test new acquisition channels (e.g. social, affiliate, marketplaces, retail media, AI-driven ad platforms) with a clear, ROI-led test-and-learn framework.
  • Set up rigorous test structures with clear success criteria, and make swift swap/scale decisions based on the data.
  • Build a channel roadmap that balances proven, reliable performance (paid search, SEO) with disciplined exploration of what's next.
  • Own the performance marketing budget and be directly accountable for ROI across all channels you manage.
  • Reconcile marketing-reported performance against actual revenue and margin outcomes, working closely with commercial/finance and analytics.
  • Report regularly to senior stakeholders on channel performance, budget efficiency, and the commercial case for future investment or reallocation.
  • Proven experience managing paid search at a meaningful budget/scale, with a track record of improving ROI over time.
  • Curiosity and early hands-on experience (or strong appetite to build expertise) in GEO / AI search visibility — this is a fast-moving space and we don't expect a finished expert, but we do expect genuine interest and a fast learning curve.
  • Solid working knowledge of technical SEO fundamentals and experience briefing or working alongside development teams.
  • A test-and-learn mindset: comfortable proposing new channels, setting up rigorous tests, and being disciplined about killing what doesn't work.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills — confident working with data, attribution models and channel-level P&L, not just platform dashboards.
  • Experience in ecommerce, ideally in a considered-purchase or configurator-style buying journey (multi-category retail, print, manufacturing or similar is a plus).
  • Excellent stakeholder management — able to make the case for budget and channel decisions clearly to non-marketing colleagues.
