Building Science Technologist

The Opportunity:

DS is currently seeking a Building Science Technologist
to join our team. Key Responsibilities:

• Performing windows, railing & blower door testing for different projects, properly & efficiently
• Coordinate and schedule field testing with team members to conduct the tests successfully & safely
• Maintain the storage room tidy and organized, in good working conditions
• Ensure proper maintenance of tools and equipment and adequate supply of materials
• Arrange and coordinate booking of rental truck for testing, and ensure returning on time & in good conditions
• Perform and schedule field inspections and for various types of projects when requested
• Interpret contract documentation, drawings, and technical reports for building envelope or Tarion B19
• Prepare field review reports, 60 days reports, milestones & final walkthrough reports, promptly and on time
• Conduct pre-construction surveys, leak investigations, roofing evaluation/repairs or other building Sc. Duties
• Handle project deliverables, activities and Inspect tools and equipment’s regularly
• Read shop-drawings, technical dada sheet, field reports and other construction documentations
• Coordinate project delivery, work with team and participants, estimate activities, and conduct tasks on time
• Communicate effectively with team members and management, develop rapport
• Submit technical and administrative reports in a timely manner and as per company procedures and protocol

Key Qualifications, Education & Skills:

• Post-secondary education in relevant Architecture, Building Science or Engineering program
• Experience of 1-2 years in building science, with a focus on building envelope would be an asset
• Knowledge of building and construction activities, field inspections or cladding assessment
• Familiarity with OBC, NBC and technical understanding of evaluating building components
• Skill in preparation of field review observations, technical specifications or investigations
• Clear verbal communication skills, verbally in one on one or group situations or over the telephone
• Competence at writing tech. reports, composing clear documents with strong editing and/or proof reading
• Advanced computer skills to produce reports, documents, and various presentations
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office application and Outlook software is essential
• Excellent organizational skills in managing paperwork, priorities and keeping projects deadlines
• Proficiency in software skills including, AutoCAD, and other discipline specific software is an asset
• Valid driver’s License, and insurance as well as access to a registered vehicle
