Position Overview

The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site HVAC construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications and applicable codes. This role supervises field personnel, coordinates with subcontractors and other trades, and ensures quality control throughout installation and commissioning phases.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise and coordinate all HVAC field operations from mobilization through project completion.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure accurate execution.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor labor productivity and adjust manpower as needed.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and tools are available when required.
  • Direct and manage HVAC foremen, technicians, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress and workmanship.
  • Enforce company policies and job site safety standards.
  • Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings.

 

Secondary Job Functions

  • Ensure installations meet local, state, and federal codes.
  • Oversee inspections and testing of HVAC systems.
  • Review and approve work to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Coordinate system startup and commissioning.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • 7–10+ years of HVAC construction experience.
  • 3–5+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • HVAC licensing (as required by state).
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
  • LEED project experience (if applicable).
