Branch is a financial services company with a consumer-facing mobile app used by millions in India. The core of our product is a quick, easy, and intuitive user experience. We want our users to navigate lending, payments, and financial tasks with ease and minimal effort. We want them to feel safe, confident that their data is secure, and trust us with their money.
We're looking for a Motion Designer for our Design team at Branch, to add motion design and animations to our Design system for the Web and Android product experience. Your primary goal is to make complex, tedious financial flows feel continuous, intuitive, and effortless through purposeful motion design for UI components, screen transitions, and animated illustrations. Your secondary goal is to make the app delightful. You'll work within our material-based design system and help evolve its motion layer from the ground up.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Define and build Branch's motion design language as a layer on our Material Design based design system. Set the principles, patterns, and standards for how motion behaves across the Android and Web.
- →Proactively spot opportunities across the app where motion can elevate the experience, whether it's an onboarding flow, a loading state, error scenarios, success moments and more. Collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, and PMs to identify and add motion design to solve real UX problems, not just cosmetics.
- →Translate product goals and user needs into motion concepts that guide users, reduce cognitive load, and make the experience feel intuitive and continuous.
- →Design purposeful micro-interactions, transitions, and animations that simplify user flows for onboarding KYC, loan application, and payments
- →Deliver production-ready motion assets (Lottie, GIFs, specs, prototypes) for engineering handoff.
- →Own motion quality end-to-end, from concept to implementation review, ensuring the production app matches the designs.
- →Stay current with motion trends, tooling, and best practices, and bring those learnings back to the team.
- 3+ years of experience in motion design, with a strong focus on UI/product animation for mobile apps.
- A portfolio that demonstrates craft, range, and intentionality in motion design. We want to see motion that solves problems, not just motion that looks cool.
- Strong understanding of animation principles (timing, easing, spatial relationships) and how they affect usability and perception
- Experience working within or contributing to a design system
- Ability to work cross-functionally with designers, engineers, and product managers with clear communication and documentation.
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership. You'll be building this function from scratch, so you need to be self-directed.
- Experience delivering assets in formats ready for mobile engineering handoff.
- Bonus if you've worked in fintech, banking, or any domain where trust, clarity, and simplicity are critical.
