At Breeze, we're building the AI-powered infrastructure layer for global commerce, making it radically simpler for businesses to sell, get paid, and operate across markets.

We go far beyond traditional payment processing. Breeze combines global payments, AI, stablecoins, and a Merchant of Record-like model to take on the complexity businesses typically manage themselves, including compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support.

Our goal is simple: let businesses focus on building and selling great products while Breeze handles the complexity behind getting paid.

Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, Breeze is a successful, rapidly growing, and exceptionally well-capitalized company. We have the runway to think long term while remaining early enough that every person joining today can have a meaningful impact on what we build.

As our Financial Operations Manager, reporting to our Head of Finance, you'll run the daily mechanics of money movement: merchant settlement, liquidity positioning across our banking and custody footprint, and the funding decisions that keep payouts on schedule in every currency and every entity we operate in.

This is an execution role with real judgment attached. You'll be positioning cash before markets open, deciding which account gets funded and from where, executing wires and on-chain transfers under dual control, and investigating breaks when a settlement doesn't land where it should. It's also a build role. Much of what you'll inherit runs on spreadsheets and tribal knowledge, and we need it running on process. If you've done treasury or payment operations inside a payments company, a bank, or a crypto business, the shape of this job will be familiar.

We're looking for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, wants meaningful ownership, and is excited to build rather than simply maintain.

Responsibilities

  • Own merchant settlement configuration: bank details, payout schedules, settlement currencies, funding instructions, rolling reserves, and holdback terms.
  • Execute and monitor the daily settlement cycle, investigating failed, delayed, or misrouted payouts through to resolution.
  • Own merchant-facing settlement inquiries and settlement statement accuracy.
  • Maintain reserve balances and release schedules in line with risk policy.
  • Respond to merchant queries on charges, balance reconciliations, top-up amounts, and tax collected.
  • Investigate settlement discrepancies and coordinate with payment partners on resolution.
  • Execute and reconcile stablecoin settlement flows, including on and off-ramp conversions with exchange and OTC counterparties.
  • Manage wallet operations: whitelisting, transfer approvals, and address hygiene.
  • Monitor custody balances and coordinate movements between custodial, exchange, and operating wallets.
  • Reconcile on-chain activity to internal ledgers and investigate discrepancies.
  • Run daily cash positioning across bank accounts in different countries and currencies, and monitor overall liquidity.
  • Set and monitor minimum balance and prefunding thresholds, moving funds before shortfalls become missed settlements.
  • Maintain rolling short-term cash forecasts covering settlement obligations, operating spend, and intercompany needs.
  • Build the reporting that gives leadership a same-day view of where cash sits and where it's going.
  • Execute FX trades and intercompany funding across our legal entities, booking each trade with proper documentation and settlement tracking.
  • Track currency exposure across entities and flag positions that need hedging attention.
  • Support entity funding as we open new markets, accounts, and licenses.
  • Execute wires, ACH, SEPA, and SWIFT payments under maker-checker controls with complete audit trails.
  • Serve as day-to-day operational contact for banking partners, sponsor banks, and custodians, covering account opening, documentation, escalations, and service issues.
  • Document treasury procedures and support internal control and audit requests.
  • 5+ years in financial operations, treasury operations, or payment operations.
  • Experience from a fintech, payments company, bank, or other regulated financial services business. This is the core requirement. You should already know what a settlement break looks like, why prefunding timing matters, and what happens when a wire cutoff is missed.
  • Hands-on experience executing payments across multiple rails (wire, ACH, SWIFT, SEPA, or local equivalents) in a controlled environment.
  • Multi-currency and multi-entity experience, including FX execution and intercompany funding.
  • Demonstrated ownership of cash positioning and short-term forecasting.
  • Strong reconciliation instincts and genuine comfort with high-volume transaction data.
  • Advanced Excel, with real comfort working with large transaction-level datasets from processors or core banking systems.
  • Some experience applying AI to finance and accounting workflows.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving environments without an established playbook.
  • A builder mentality with a strong bias toward action.
  • Excited to use AI and automation to work smarter and rethink existing processes.
  • Comfortable getting into the details and doing the work, regardless of seniority.

Nice to Have

~1 min read
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
  • Direct experience with stablecoin or crypto settlement, custody platforms, or exchange and OTC relationships.
  • Familiarity with FBO account structures, safeguarding rules, or money transmitter permissible investment requirements.
  • Modern Treasury, NetSuite, or similar treasury and payment ops tooling.
  • BigQuery or comparable ability to pull your own data.
  • Experience standing up banking or custody relationships in a new country.
  • 60 days: You run daily positioning independently, know every account and its purpose, and have mapped where the manual work and control gaps are.
  • 3 months: Settlement runs on schedule with breaks caught same-day. Cash forecasting and treasury procedures run smoothly as documented processes.
  • 6 months: Money movement is controlled, reconciled, and scalable. Adding a new entity, currency, or banking partner is a repeatable playbook rather than a project.
  • More than payments: We're building an intelligent infrastructure layer across payments, compliance, risk, fraud, chargebacks, reconciliation, and customer support.
  • AI from the ground up: AI isn't an add-on. It's central to how we're building our products and how our teams operate.
  • Successful and still early: We have meaningful traction and strong financial foundations while remaining early enough for new hires to have outsized impact.
  • Built for the long term: Backed by Sequoia Capital, Multicoin Capital, and The Chainsmokers, we're exceptionally well-capitalized with the runway to think big.
  • Real ownership: Lean teams, few layers, direct access to decision-makers, and the autonomy to make things happen.
  • Hard problems: Work at the intersection of AI, payments, stablecoins, risk, compliance, financial infrastructure, and global commerce.
  • Exceptional team: Work with ambitious, curious, low-ego people who move quickly and care deeply about what they build.
  • Room to grow: As Breeze grows, strong performers can quickly expand their scope and take on bigger problems.
  • Act Now, Improve Later: Ship something real today. Move fast, learn from what happens, and make it better.
  • Disagree and Commit: Debate hard before a decision. Once it's made, commit fully and make the outcome right.
  • Customers First: When in doubt, start with what's most painful for the customer.
  • Own It, End to End: Don't wait to be asked. If you see a problem, take responsibility for solving it.
  • Default to Public: Share context openly so the whole team can move faster and learn from each other.
  • High Standards, Genuine Warmth: Hold the bar high and treat people well. Be direct, rigorous, kind, and low ego.
  • Outcomes Over Activity: We care about what ships, what works, and what moves the needle, not how busy you look.
  • AI Forward, Always Learning: Experiment with new tools, automate the repetitive, share what works, and continuously rethink how you can work smarter.

What We Offer

We believe compensation should be fair, competitive, consistent, and transparent.

We benchmark compensation against the market and establish thoughtful bands for each role.
Compensation reflects experience, skills, location, role scope, and expected impact.
We don't believe pay should primarily depend on how aggressively someone negotiates.
Eligible employees receive meaningful equity, so the people building Breeze can participate in the long-term value they help create.
Estimated Compensation: $135K - $150k Salary + Bonus and Equity Options
Health coverage: Breeze covers 100% of employee premiums on our competitive base plan and 75% of dependent premiums.
PTO: 21 days, plus applicable company holidays.
401(k): Breeze covers all plan administration fees.
Equity: Meaningful ownership in the company you're helping build.
Equipment: A new MacBook Air and whatever else you need to do your best work.
Office & education allowance: An annual budget for your workspace, tools, and professional development.
Wellness: A monthly reimbursement to support your well-being.
Annual global offsite: We bring the global Breeze team together every year. Previous destinations include Bali and Singapore, with Japan coming next.

This role is hybrid and based in New York City.

We believe there is real value in building together in person. This role is expected to work from our NYC office at least 3 days per week.

Breeze offers a rare combination: the ownership and speed of an early-stage company with the traction, backing, and financial foundations of a successful business.

We're building at the convergence of AI, payments, stablecoins, financial infrastructure, and global commerce. The opportunity is much bigger than building another payment processor.

We're building the intelligent infrastructure layer for global commerce, and there's still an enormous amount left to build.

If you want meaningful ownership, hard problems, exceptional teammates, and the opportunity to help define what comes next, we'd love to hear from you.
