We're looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager who wants to lead that journey.

This isn't a role where success is measured by how much code you write.

About the Opportunity

You'll lead our software engineering function, working closely with our Executive team to shape technology strategy while mentoring and developing a talented group of developers.

In your first three months, you'll spend time understanding our platforms, building relationships with the team, assessing delivery processes and establishing engineering priorities before driving longer-term improvements.

You'll lead engineering across multiple business-critical platforms supporting a national operation, including our proprietary BuildCam platform, internal operational systems and AI initiatives that support thousands of active construction sites every day.

You'll help modernise existing platforms, guide architectural decisions, introduce AI-assisted development practices and ensure our team delivers high-quality software that supports a rapidly growing national business.

You understand that software exists to solve business problems. Working closely with business leaders, you'll translate ideas into practical technology solutions that improve operations, support our customers and create measurable business value.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll:

• Lead, coach and develop our software engineering team.
• Set clear priorities and manage delivery across multiple projects.
• Partner with business leaders to translate ideas into practical technology solutions.
• Champion modern software development practices and AI-assisted engineering.
• Guide technical decisions without becoming the team's primary coder.
• Support the continued evolution of our BuildCam platform and internal business systems.
• Drive continuous improvement across software delivery, quality and engineering capability.
• Help shape Buildsafe's long-term technology roadmap.

About You

You're an experienced engineering leader who enjoys enabling others to succeed.

You understand that software exists to solve business problems and that building a great engineering team delivers far greater value than personally writing the most code.

You'll bring:

• Experience leading software development or software engineering teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A practical, commercial approach to technology.
• Experience delivering software in Agile environments.
• A passion for mentoring developers and building capability.
• Curiosity around emerging technologies, particularly AI-assisted development.
• The ability to balance innovation with delivering reliable business outcomes.
