Medical Technician/Medical Lab Technician (Mashpee)

1. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.

1. Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
2. Performs clinical testing in conformance with the laboratory procedure and physician order; initiate follow up as necessary to confirm an order; draw venous or capillary blood from patients as required; receive other body fluids or specimens from inpatients and outpatients; package specimens together with pertinent information arrange for delivery to reference laboratory; and prioritize requests according to need and conditions.

1. Prepares reagents, standards, and controls when needed.

1. Prepare and set-up equipment for various tests, assure proper calibration of equipment.

1. Performs instrument troubleshooting as necessary and preventive maintenance as scheduled. 

1. Perform and record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on all laboratory equipment.

1. Accurately transcribes completed test data for reporting.
2. Communicates with Providers and their Teams alerting them to critical values in a timely manner. 
3. Makes recommendations for improvements in quality and/or efficiency to the immediate supervisor.
4. Participates in Proficiency Testing program to maintain CLIA compliance.
5. Participation in Quality Assurance projects

   2. Summarize findings
6. Assists the supervisor in the maintenance of assigned procedure manuals in compliance with CLIA and Massachusetts Department of Health standards.
7. Practice efficient and economical use of laboratory supplies; checks the inventory, orders supplies and restocks upon arrival.
8. Maintains confidentiality of information deemed confidential.

1. Assist in work performed by MLT; orientation of all new personnel; training of students, and instruction to nontechnical personnel.

1. Maintains work benches, testing areas and other work areas in a clean, sanitary and free of clutter condition for the safety of patients, guests and staff.

1. Ensure adequate availability of required supplies and reagents and communicate to appropriate supervisory personnel when necessary.

1. Has the ability to learn and perform new procedures established in the clinical laboratory.
2. Retain a thorough knowledge of departmental policies and procedures as they pertain to the job, including the fire and disaster plans.
3. Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested. 

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) – Grade: P015, Job Code: 10272

• Must read, write, and communicate in English 
• Ability to communicate in English to understand and respond to basic verbal and written English language instruction.
• Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
  • An Associates’ Degree in science and/or completion of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology internship program and/or registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the ASCP or NCA, preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience within clinical laboratory, preferably at Medical Affiliates of Cape Cod following training on all instruments and the Laboratory Information System.
• Computer skills preferred
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work successfully in a team effort
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills
• Must be well organized, dependable, self-motivating, and demonstrate initiative
• Recent Core Lab experience preferred

Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) – Grade: P017, Job Code: 10492

• Must read, write, and communicate in English 
• Ability to communicate in English to understand and respond to basic verbal and written English language instruction.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Medical/Clinical Laboratory science, Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry from an accredited institution and completion of an approved Medical Technology internship program. 
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred within six (6) months of hire.  HEW certification acceptable. 
• Computer skills preferred

• Must possess good oral and written communication skills
• Must be well organized, dependable, self-motivating, and demonstrate initiative
• Recent Core Lab experience preferred
