Responsibilities

  • Admission to the Bar: Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Documentation of SSA authorization to represent disability claimants is required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of legal experience preferred, although attorneys with more experience are encouraged to apply. Recent graduates, judicial clerks, public defenders, prosecutors, legal aid attorneys, insurance defense attorneys, workers' compensation attorneys, personal injury attorneys, and attorneys transitioning into disability law are encouraged to apply. Previous Social Security Disability experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Litigation & Advocacy Skills: Ability to prepare persuasive legal arguments, effectively represent clients during hearings, and confidently advocate on behalf of clients.
  • Medical Evidence: Ability to review, interpret, and analyze medical records. Familiarity with medical terminology is beneficial and can be developed through training.
  • Legal Research & Writing: Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills with the ability to prepare briefs, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Client Advocacy: Demonstrated commitment to serving clients with empathy, professionalism, and compassion.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail when reviewing case files, managing deadlines, and preparing documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, Administrative Law Judges, and agency personnel.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines in a remote work environment.
  • Ethical Conduct: Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical legal practice.
  • Technology Proficiency: Must be tech-savvy and comfortable working in a fully digital environment. Experience using Mac computers, Google Workspace, Slack, cloud-based software, video conferencing platforms, AI-assisted legal tools, or similar technology is highly valued. We are looking for attorneys who enjoy learning new technology and continuously improving the way they work.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in Social Security Disability, administrative law, workers' compensation, veterans' benefits, employment law, legal aid, personal injury, or other client advocacy-focused practice areas.
  • Experience representing clients in hearings or other legal proceedings.
  • Experience working in a remote or technology-first environment.
  • Familiarity with digital case management systems.
  • West Coast candidates preferred.
  • Federal-level claims experience is a plus.
