Manages the daily activities of Patient Admitting, ED Registration and ambulatory clinics to ensure high-quality customer service and to improve the revenue cycle activities for coding, billing and documentation. Understands regulatory and third-party payer guidelines for admissions, discharges, ambulatory visits, billing and coding so the organization and registration staff remain in compliance. Reviews staff schedules and ensures staffing guidelines meet the budget and provide appropriate resources based on department volume/activities. Trains, educates and develops staff to enhance job functions and responsibilities so that maximum flexibility and job cross training is achieved. Coordinates activities across assigned facilities and clinic locations to ensure patient satisfaction is enhanced and patient dissatisfaction issues are addressed and remediated. Performs all duties which promotes Carle's Behavioral Standards and reflects the mission and vision of the system. Responsible for policies and procedures, quality metrics, annual budgets, and other strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of patient access operational model
  • Ensures high physician, clinical leader, and customer satisfaction, organizational efficiency, and strong financial performance
  • Assures accurate and complete data collection
  • Streamlines financial clearance functions prior to service and solid cash collection processes.
  • Participates on various committees, work groups, and teams
  • Promotes effective communication between departments and entities.
  • Facilitate information sharing, collaborative problem solving and support. 
  • Implement and maintain compliant policies and practices for all direct and indirect Patient Access Services staff for all Carle Richland Memorial locations.
  • Monitor ongoing performance of Patient Access Services processes through the development, production, and distribution of performance metrics.
  • Proficient in EPIC, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
  • Must be organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize on short notice
  • Ensure staff members are adequately trained and competent to perform all required job tasks.
  • Establish standards for reducing registration errors.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directives from regulatory agencies, governmental bodies and third parties.

Certifications:

Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) within 2 years 

 

Education: 

Bachelor's Degree: Business Management or  

Bachelor's Degree: Healthcare or 

Bachelor's Degree: Related Field

 

Work Experience:

2yrs of Healthcare experience

The compensation range for this position is $37.44per hour - $64.4per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
