Recovery Coordinator - LGBTQ+ & Chemsex team

Some of the people who need support the most are often the least likely to ask for it.

Whether through stigma, discrimination, previous experiences or fear of being judged, many people within LGBTQ+ communities face barriers to accessing treatment. For individuals involved in chemsex, those barriers can be even greater, with substance use, sexual health and mental wellbeing often closely intertwined.

At Change Grow Live Brighton & Hove, we're committed to changing that.

We're looking for an experienced LGBTQ+ & Chemsex Recovery Coordinator to help us reach people who may not otherwise engage with services, building trusted relationships, reducing harm and creating opportunities for lasting recovery.

This is more than a Recovery Coordinator role.

It's an opportunity to work at the heart of one of the UK's most vibrant LGBTQ+ communities, helping shape specialist services that are inclusive, responsive and built around the people who use them.

This is a highly specialist role where you'll combine outreach, partnership working and expert case management to support individuals whose needs are often complex and hidden from traditional services.

You'll spend time in the community, building relationships in places where people feel comfortable, working alongside sexual health services, community organisations and local partners to connect individuals with support that meets their needs.

You'll become a recognised specialist within the service, leading on LGBTQ+ and chemsex-related practice, sharing your expertise with colleagues and helping us continually evolve the way we support our communities.

This is an autonomous role requiring significant experience within drug and alcohol services, excellent case management skills and the confidence to work independently with people whose needs are often complex. Because of its specialist nature, this role isn't suitable as an entry point into substance misuse services.

Our service is designed around the needs of the community, with late evening sessions during the week and a Saturday morning service. You'll work flexibly as part of the wider Recovery Coordinator team to ensure support is available when people need it most.

To help us strengthen our work with Brighton & Hove's LGBTQIA+ communities, we particularly welcome applications from people who identify as non-binary, women or trans, and from those with lived experience of the issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people.

• Maintain a client caseload, with a focus on substance use within the LGBTQ+ community and/or individuals engaged in chemsex
• Deliver targeted outreach to engage LGBTQ+ individuals not currently in treatment
• Build trusting relationships with individuals in community and non-clinical settings
• Provide specialist harm reduction advice relating to chemsex, including safer use, sexual health, and risk management
• Develop strong partnerships with sexual health services and LGBTQ+ community organisations
• Carry out in-reach and co-location work across Brighton and Hove
• Identify emerging trends in chemsex and contribute to service development and response
• Act as a lead within the service for LGBTQ+ and chemsex-related issues

• Substantial experience working with individuals involved in chemsex (essential)
• Experience working with LGBTQ+ communities and understanding of associated barriers to treatment
• Proven knowledge of substance misuse and access to treatment pathways
• Proven experience delivering outreach or community-based engagement work
• Strong understanding of harm reduction
• Confidence working in dynamic, non-traditional environments and engaging harder-to-reach populations
