This position is located at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), Landstuhl, Germany.

 

The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), also known as Landstuhl Hospital, is a U.S. Army post in Landstuhl, Germany, near Ramstein Air Base. It is an amalgamation of Marceau Kaserne (German: Infanterie-Kaserne) and Wilson Barracks (Kirchberg-Kaserne), which were merged on October 15, 1951. LRMC, is the only forward-stationed medical center for U.S. & Coalition forces, Department of State personnel, and repatriated U.S. citizens. LRMC is the largest U.S. hospital outside the United States where it serves as the sole military medical center for more than 205,000 beneficiaries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. LRMC is a jointly staffed Army commanded 100-bed Medical Center that is strategically located near Ramstein Air Base, providing 52 medical specialties and over 46,000 outpatient visits per month. LRMC is the only American College of Surgeons verified Level III Trauma Center outside the United States. Construction is ongoing for a new hospital facility (the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center Replacement) that will replace the existing hospital. Construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2027.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.Specialized Experience:One year of specialized experience which includes performing work as a cardiovascular technologist (CVT) working in a cardiovascular laboratory and/or cardiac catheterization laboratory; or independently performing a variety of non-invasive cardiovascular procedures; or assisting with invasive cardiovascular procedures; and independently operating x- ray equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • →Serves in a multi-role (scrub; monitor; circulator; instructor; equipment, supply and budget) capacity as a Cardiovascular Medical Instrument Technician.
  • →Identifies and selects patient/procedure-specific catheters, supplies, equipment, contrast medium, and volume to meet the requirements of the procedure.
  • →Sets up sterile field. Monitors and ensures compliance with aseptic technique and radiation safety principles.
  • →Responsible for required daily maintenance and preventive maintenance of cine processing equipment.
  • →Notifies the operating cardiologists of the procedure status, the current patient condition, and other vital information that may affect the procedure.
  • →Operates defibrillator and pacemaker generator as well as radiographic contrast injector, cardiac output, intravascular ultrasound, angiojet, rotablator, pressure wire, and intra-aortic balloon pump consoles.
  • →Applies noninvasive cardiovascular techniques of electrocardiography (12-lead ECG) and assists with synchronized cardioversion and transcutaneous pacing.
  • →Operates an interactive computerized digital subtraction angiographic system in order to produce coronary and left ventricular graphic images, and to perform pulmonary, aortic, and peripheral arterial imaging.
  • →Ensures that the lab has adequate supplies for all procedures performed.
