The Patient Safety Attendant provides continuous observation and support for patients to ensure their safety, comfort, and well-being. Assists with daily care activities, responds to patient needs, maintains a safe and clean environment, communicates patient concerns to nursing staff, and collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver quality patient care while following safety and emergency procedures.

 

Provide continuous observation and monitoring of patients requiring close supervision to ensure safety and prevent injury, documenting observations according to established guidelines.

Respond promptly to patient requests, call lights, and immediate needs, communicating concerns and significant changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.

 

Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, toileting, ambulation, transfers, positioning, and meal preparation assistance.

 

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient environment by removing hazards, ensuring equipment safety, and keeping beds locked in the low position with call bells accessible.

 

Support patient comfort and well-being by providing fresh drinking water, comfort measures, and a quiet, therapeutic environment.

 

Assist in emergency situations, including codes, fires, electrical failures, and disaster response, following hospital policies and procedures.

 

Promote positive patient and family experiences by introducing oneself, orienting patients and families to the unit, answering questions within scope, and demonstrating courteous, respectful communication.

 

Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and the healthcare team by reporting completed assignments, communicating safety concerns, and contributing to quality patient care and team goals.

Required to demonstrate confidence in interpersonal relationships and effective communication skills. 

 

Basic patient care skills preferred.

Requirements

AHA CPR certification required.
