Nursing Assistant (NA)

CVP seeks Nursing Assistants (NAs) to join our team in providing our Nation's Veterans with skilled nursing care at the VA New Jersey Health Care System (VANJHCS) at East Orange VA Medical Center located at 385 Tremont Avenue, East Orange, NJ 07018.

• →Perform personal nursing care including feeding, walking, lifting, turning patients, and providing hygiene care using specialized equipment
• →Take, record, and report vital signs and changes in patients' condition, assist doctors in diagnostic examinations and emergency procedures
• →Assemble necessary equipment, position patients, collect and transport specimens to laboratory, and escort patients to diagnostic studies
• →Change simple dressings, care for patients with infections and communicable diseases, and provide care for patients receiving oxygen therapy
• →Conduct admission inventories including contraband searches, provide 1:1 care as Patient Safety Partner, and perform EKGs as requested
• →Document patient information and promote physical independence through self-care supervision

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
• Minimum one (1) year current experience as a Nursing Assistant in medical/surgical unit, long-term care/nursing home, or inpatient psychiatric unit
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to speak, read, understand, and write English fluently
• Computer literacy and ability to use healthcare technology
• Physical ability to lift, turn, and assist patients without restrictions

• Direct patient care experience in hospital, nursing home, or psychiatric settings
• Knowledge of basic nursing procedures and patient safety protocols
• Experience with vital signs monitoring, patient hygiene care, and mobility assistance
• Understanding of infection control procedures and medical equipment care

• East Orange VA Medical Center located at 385 Tremont Avenue, East Orange, NJ 07018

• Hourly Pay: $28/hr
• Health & Wellness (H&W): $5.09/hr (H&W will be prorated based on enrollment in the benefits offered, including automatic enrollment in employer-paid plans)
