Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
  • Track compliance with applicable best management practices, Permit conditions, Environmental Work Plans, Environmental Management Plans, and site-specific plans.
  • Coordinate environmental design and construction input between various disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the project team in developing Environmental Work Plans and Environmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments, identify potential impacts and develop and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Prepare and review reporting associated with environmental compliance (e.g., Weekly Environmental Reports, Monthly Environmental Reports, Environmental Incident Reports, etc.).
  • Support the development and implementation of an environmental training and awareness program.
  • Manage data collection, storage and analysis.
  • Assist with environmental incident investigations in accordance with incident reporting procedures.
  • Support with field work, including environmental monitoring, and data collection.
  • Liaise on a day-to-day basis with project supervisors and others.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 – 8 years’ experience in construction projects of similar size/scope.
  • CAN-CISEC or equivalent erosion and sediment control certification.
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental regulations (e.g., Water Sustainability Act, Environmental Assessment Act, etc.).
  • Past experience in environmental inspecting and monitoring.
  • Effective communication, data organization and technical reporting skills.
  • Ability to work outside in various weather and terrain conditions.
  • Proficiency with computer programs for managing and communicating environmental data.
  • Valid driver’s license
