Homewood Veterinary Care officially opened as of October 2022! Previously Markham Animal Clinic, we outgrew our old facility and are very fortunate to have moved into a new, spacious, and beautiful hospital. We are an AAHA accredited practice and our team promotes modern medicine while also offering a great patient and client experience.
Our new facility offers 6 exam rooms, dedicated surgery and dental suites, state of the art equipment, separate cat and dog areas (Fear Free of course!), and many other enhancements which will make it feel like home.

🧹 Hospital Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, sanitary, and welcoming environment throughout the hospital, including exam rooms, treatment areas, and common spaces.

📦 Restocking & Organization: Unpack deliveries, restock supplies, organize inventory, and ensure exam rooms are fully stocked.

🗑️ Daily Cleaning: Empty trash, sanitize surfaces, complete daily cleaning checklists, and maintain hospital cleanliness.

🌳 Outdoor Maintenance: Keep our yard and outdoor pet areas clean, safe, and free of waste.

🐕 Patient Assistance: Help safely handle and restrain patients under the guidance of our veterinary team.

🤝 Team Support: Be an extra set of hands for our technicians, assistants, and veterinarians whenever needed.
- →Provides great care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / or boarding.
- →Ensures patients are admitted noting the client’s specific instructions to ensure a quality outcome including contact information and pick up time.
- →Accurately and legibly records information related to the patient such as feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior during practice visit.
- →Observes patient’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.
- →Appropriately handles patients and as needed, properly restrains hard-to-control patients.
- →Walks patients several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
- →Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements and as required, provides special food and liquids.
- →Ensures patients are clean and fresh smelling and have been checked by a Technician / Doctor prior to discharge; ensures patient has all personal property upon exit.
- →Ensures cages and patients are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper areas and identified.
- →Regularly cleans, disinfects and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent. Performs general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls.
- →Launders and dries towels and blankets.
- →Walks hospital grounds regularly and cleans any trash and stool material; empties trash throughout the practice and grounds.
- →Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Type: Part-TimeAnticipated Hours: 15–25 hours per week, depending on the needs of the hospital.
Candidates must be available to work scheduled shifts during our regular business hours:
Monday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Future Saturday Availability: Homewood Veterinary Care anticipates expanding operations to include Saturdays. Once Saturday hours are established by management, additional weekend availability may be required. Any scheduling changes will be communicated and discussed with team members in advance.
Scheduling Flexibility: Weekly schedules and hours will vary based on hospital needs. We are looking for someone who is dependable, flexible, and willing to support our team during scheduled shifts.

Requirements

- Previous veterinary experience preferred
- Ability to lift patients up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients over 25 pounds with assistance
- Practices OSHA safety techniques including proper PPE
