Sr Director, Client Partner Counsel - Personal Lines Auto

Liberty Mutual is looking for a managing attorney to lead legal support for one of our largest and fastest-moving businesses.

You'll lead a small, technically specialized team of lawyers and legal professionals supporting the personal auto operation within US Retail Markets — a $26+ billion business unit — and serve as the senior legal partner to the Personal Auto President and their leadership team. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, you'll set legal strategy and direct resourcing against the business's strategic priorities.

It's a role for a lawyer who wants both: substantive work on complex and emerging regulatory questions, and a genuine seat at the table where the business makes its decisions.

It means balancing legal risk with commercial pragmatism, bringing clarity to competing priorities, and removing roadblocks so your business partners can decide with confidence. And it means developing the people around you while staying curious yourself — thinking broadly and seeking outside perspectives rather than defaulting to how things have been done.

• J.D. or L.L.B. and admission to the bar of at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 18+ years practicing as an attorney
• Expert knowledge of insurance regulatory law
• Excellent analytical, legal writing, and communication skills
• Proven ability to work effectively with business partners, outside counsel, and adverse parties
• Commitment to the highest standards of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility

• People management experience
• CPCU designation
• Personal lines auto, telematics, or state regulatory experience
