The Electrical Engineering Intern will support PGW’s Technical Support team within the Marketing Department. This role will assist with customer energy analyses, data review, and research related to combined heat and power (CHP) and other energy technologies. The intern will also gain exposure to customer electrical infrastructure, including switchgear and distribution systems, and will support engineering staff in understanding how new equipment may connect to existing systems.
Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is offering internships/Co-Ops for Electrical Engineering Students in our Marketing Departments.Opportunities are available during the academic/calendar year and summer months.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Assist with energy savings calculations, utility data review, and project tracking for customer opportunities
- →Support research related to CHP, distributed generation, and other energy technologies
- →Help organize and review customer electric and gas usage data to support opportunity screening
- →Assist with site visits by documenting existing electrical infrastructure, including switchgear and distribution equipment
- →Develop familiarity with switchgear, electrical distribution systems, and basic interconnection concepts as they relate to customer energy projects
- →Perform other related research, analytical, and administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
~1 min read- Be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college;
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree with a focus in Electrical Engineering;
- Have a sophomore classification or above;
- Be in good academic standing;
- Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program(year-round interns);
- Previous internship experience is preferred;
- Strong analytical and computer skills.
- Show an interest in learning about energy, project management, and business development
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard computer applications
- Coursework in power systems, circuits, or energy systems is preferred
