Inventory Control Clerk

As an Inventory Clerk, you are the person who keeps what the system says and what is on the shelf in agreement. You maintain inventory accuracy, support inventory transactions, cycle counts, and audits, and keep the warehouse organized so material can be found, counted, and trusted. Everything downstream, including kitting, job site delivery, and project cost tracking, depends on locations, quantities, lot numbers, and serial numbers being right.

The successful candidate is methodical, accurate in their counting, comfortable investigating a discrepancy until the root cause is found, and disciplined about recording every transaction the same day it happens.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Maintain inventory accuracy by verifying on-hand quantities against system records through daily inventory verification and completing the transactions needed to keep them in agreement.
• Perform scheduled and ad hoc cycle counts, record results, and investigate and document the cause of any discrepancy before an adjustment is made.
• Confirm material is in its assigned rack location and that quantities, lot numbers, and serial numbers match the system and the paperwork.
• Process inventory adjustments, receipts, transfers, and returns in company systems accurately and the same day they occur.
• Assist the receiving, put-away, kitting, and shipping teams during high-volume periods so material keeps moving without sacrificing accuracy.
• Keep count sheets, adjustment records, and audit documentation complete, legible, and filed so inventory activity can be traced and reviewed.
• Follow all inventory control procedures and safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, and stop work and report any hazard or near-miss.
• Proven experience in warehouse, inventory control, or a similar role in a warehouse, distribution, construction, or industrial environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to count accurately and consistently, and to read and match part numbers, lot numbers, and serial numbers against system records.
• Experience with inventory systems and Microsoft Excel sufficient to process transactions, record counts, and reconcile results.
• Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Willingness to investigate and flag a discrepancy rather than adjust it away or pass it downstream.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand and walk for the full shift.

• Experience performing cycle counts or physical inventories in an ERP or inventory management system; Acumatica experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, electrical, and control system material, or the ability to learn manufacturers and cost codes quickly.
• Ability to safely operate, or be trained to operate, a pallet jack and other material handling equipment.
• Dependable, punctual, and proactive in identifying and correcting inventory issues before they affect operations.

This position works primarily in a warehouse environment with inventory storage, staging, and shipping operations. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks, and to non-climate-controlled temperatures in the warehouse. The noise level is moderate. Personal protective equipment is required. The employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision sufficient to read part numbers, labels, and count sheets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and to climb ladders or step stools to access rack locations. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
