Instrument/Electrical Designer 1 - Houston, TX

Under close supervision, performs routine drafting assignments which require knowledge and skill in basic drafting techniques and procedures. Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent's job knowledge and abilities.

• →Prepares simple engineering and construction drawings from sketches or verbal instructions utilizing manual or computer-assisted drafting/design techniques.
• →Prepares drawings for markups, charts, and tables.
• →Performs related fundamental engineering support tasks such as updating computer lists, filing prints, distributing drawings, making simple calculations, proofreading reports, etc.
• →May utilize information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.
• →Supports field assignments as required.

High school graduate with vocational/technical training in basic drafting technology (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).

Entry-level classification normally requiring a working knowledge of fundamental CADD applications.

This role will collaborate within a multi-discipline team in an effort to fully develop, deliver and complete a successful project. As part of this collaborative effort, this role requires the presence of the individual working within a group setting, with regular interaction during meetings and one-on-one, face-to-face discussions with other individuals on the team on a daily basis.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before clients or employees of the organization.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Occasionally may conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.

Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise. Occasionally may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at a construction site. This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
