Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation or other closely related field, plus three (3) years of related experience.
Supervisory experience is preferred.
Requires occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Requires occasional field work; may work in all types of weather.
- Identifies the need and feasibility for a wide variety of recreation, sports, and leisure-time programs.
- Maintains fixed and controlled assets. Coordinates maintenance and repairs for assigned facility.
- Supervises staff to include hiring, orienting, training, assigning and reviewing work performance, annual work performance appraisals, and discipline. Formulates and prepares annual program action plans.
- Creates partnerships and coordinates with other organizations and agencies to utilize joint programming opportunities.
- Establishes and implements recreation, leisure-time, and sports program standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provides leadership in managing, supervising, and coordinating the use of County and assigned non-County facilities and grounds.
- Manages and reviews all cash handling, billing, collections functions, and assigned line item budget.
- Represents the Section in the community by attending community meetings.

- Management and operation of recreation facilities and equipment
- Supervisory principles and practices
- Budget preparation and justification, monitoring, forecasting, and methods of fiscal control
- Public relations principles and techniques
- Supervise and train subordinate staff
- Assist in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the division
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Organize and prioritize projects, tasks, and own work in an effective and timely manner
- Maintain effective working relationships with division and County employees
- Develop recreational programs adapted to the particular needs of the community
- Use computers, phones, and other standard office equipment and software
Frequent nights, weekends, and holiday work required.
Ability to work extended shifts during special events, tournaments, and community functions is required
