About the Role

The primary purpose of the Nuclear Medicine Fusion Imaging Technologist I position is to perform a variety of technical procedures and exams that utilize radionuclides for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Responsibilities

  • →Ensures correct patient identity 100% of the time by verbally verifying patient name and date of birth and comparing those responses to what is printed on the exam requisition, as observed by immediate Supervisor.
  • →Prepares patient for procedure 100% of the time by explaining procedure according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety and optimize desired results, as observed by immediate Supervisor.
  • →Positions patient in accordance with established protocols or approved physician instructions, employing immobilization devices, lead shielding, and collimation as appropriate 100% of the time, as reviewed in random critiques of images by Radiologist or QC Technologist.
  • →Verifies informed consent where required 100% of the time, as indicated by retrospective reviews of consent form presence in the chart for specific nuclear medicine exams and injections.
  • →Maintains NJDEP licenses in Nuclear Medicine Technology and either Diagnostic Radiography or Fusion Imaging.
  • →Maintains NMTCB/ARRT(N)(CT) licenses by remaining compliant with continuing education requirements.
  • →Performs both Nuclear Medicine imaging studies (PET, General, and Cardiac) and non-diagnostic CT imaging for fusion purposes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine (Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s Degree).
  • Current New Jersey license in Nuclear Medicine Technology required and either Diagnostic Radiography or Fusion Imaging required.
  • Five (5) years of clinical nuclear medicine experience required.
  • Current ARRT or NMTCB certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology and either Diagnostic Radiography or Computed Tomography (i.e., RT(CT) or NMTCB(CT) required.
  • Annual fit testing is required.
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR..
