Minimum Qualifications for Lateral Public Safety Emergency Communications Specialists:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a multi-agency Police, Fire, and EMS dispatch center.

Minimum experience includes both a call taking and radio dispatcher role.

Strong Public Relations, Communication, and Problem-Solving Skills, with a high level of integrity.

A clean background, with successful completion of personal history statement (background check) and drug screening.

Ability to work a variety of shifts – including weekends, holidays and over-night shifts.

Additional qualifications for Emergency Communications Specialist include:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills.

The ability to have emotional control in stressful situations.

Strong computer and typing skills.

Spanish language skills are a plus.
