Our mission is to architect AI that learns from and interacts with the world like humans do.

We're pioneering the model architectures that will make this possible. Our founding team met as PhDs at the Stanford AI Lab, where we invented State Space Models or SSMs, a new primitive for training efficient, large-scale foundation models. Our team combines deep expertise in model innovation and systems engineering paired with a design-minded product engineering team to build and ship cutting edge models and experiences.

We're funded by leading investors at Index Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, along with Factory, Conviction, A Star, General Catalyst, SV Angel, Databricks and others. We're fortunate to have the support of many amazing advisors, and 90+ angels across many industries, including the world's foremost experts in AI.

About the Role

~1 min read

We are seeking a highly motivated Executive Business Partner to support our four co-founders.

You'll sit at the center of how the founders work - managing complex calendars and logistics, but also creating structure around planning, communication, and follow-through. You'll work closely with leaders across the company and have a unique view into how the business operates.

This is not a traditional EA role. The job includes administrative work, but the bigger opportunity is the judgment you bring and the systems you build. You'll often be handed an ambiguous problem rather than a clear brief and expected to figure out what needs to happen, bring the right people together, and drive it through to completion.

You should be comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy, knowing when to take something off a founder's plate, when to push for clarity, and when to bring an issue back to the founders or leadership team.

This is a fully in-person role based in our San Francisco office.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Manage complex, rapidly evolving calendars across four founders, prioritizing competing requests with sound judgment and protecting time for high-value work

  • Anticipate needs, prepare founders fully for meetings, and make thoughtful tradeoffs instead of accommodating every request

  • Handle confidential information and sensitive situations with maturity and discretion

  • Own travel planning, itineraries, and expenses

  • Provide limited personal support to founders as needed

  • Build and run the operating rhythms that keep the company aligned, including leadership meetings, annual planning, OKR processes, cross-functional reviews, and other key business cycles

  • Coordinate board meetings, working directly with board members' EAs, and support board materials preparation

  • Draft agendas, capture key decisions, and track follow-ups so commitments close

  • Partner closely with the co-founders on business needs and serve as a trusted partner on how they operate

  • Push for clarity and follow-through across the team on the founders' behalf

  • Build strong relationships with functional leaders and other key stakeholders across the company

  • Represent the founders thoughtfully with external stakeholders, including investors, partners, and candidates

Requirements

~1 min read
  • 5 to 8 years of experience in executive support, executive operations, or a similar role supporting senior executives at a fast-moving, high-growth company

  • High agency; you create structure where none exists and solve problems without a fully defined playbook

  • Comfortable managing and diplomatically pushing back on strong personalities, competing priorities, and changing plans

  • Able to coach executives on how to work effectively with an executive partner

  • Equally strong at tactical support (calendars, travel) and higher-leverage work (planning, operating rhythms)

  • Excellent judgment about what to own directly, when to push, and when to bring something to a founder or the leadership team

  • Strong writer and communicator who can get a room aligned

  • Discretion and maturity when handling sensitive information

  • Bonus points for experience with first-time founders or executives, or building operating rhythms from scratch.

Note: Cartesia participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information to confirm employment eligibility after hire.

🏢 In-office policy: We’re an in-person team based out of offices in 🇺🇸 San Francisco, 🇬🇧 London and 🇮🇳 Bangalore. We love being in the office, hanging out together, and learning from each other every day.
