As an Employment Legal Counsel, you'll play a critical role in supporting our people, protecting our business, and helping leaders make informed decisions that drive success across nearly 3,000 stores and multiple support functions. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to Human Resources, Operations, and business leaders, helping navigate complex employment matters while balancing legal risk with practical business solutions. This role partners closely with leaders across our footprint and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a growing Fortune 500 organization.
As a member of our Employment Law team, you will:
- Partner with Human Resources, Operations, and business leaders to provide practical, strategic legal advice on a broad range of employment-related matters.
- Serve as a trusted legal advisor, building strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Monitor and interpret employment laws, regulations, agency guidance, enforcement activity, and case law developments across multiple jurisdictions.
- Represent Casey’s in employment-related litigation, agency charges, negotiations, settlement discussions, and other employment disputes.
- Advise on employment matters that may significantly impact the company's operations, workforce strategies, or business objectives.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage complex legal documents and matters involving outside counsel.
- Collaborate with partners across all geographic regions where Casey’s operates.
- Provide legal analysis and recommendations on employee relations, workplace investigations, policy development, accommodation requests, wage and hour matters, leaves of absence, discrimination claims, and other employment issues.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop, interpret, and implement policies, practices, and processes that align legal requirements with business goals.
- Support compliance initiatives and proactively identify opportunities to mitigate risk across the organization.
- Help deliver training, education, and guidance to leaders on employment law topics and workplace best practices.
Compensation: Starting pay range: $120,000 - $145,000. Actual pay may vary based on Casey’s assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance and an annual equity grant in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- Several years of employment law experience, either in-house or with a law firm highly preferred.
- Experience managing employment litigation, agency matters, and workplace investigations.
- Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical, business-focused recommendations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
