PURPOSE
The Attwell Books Sales Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for customers at Attwell Books during Catch The Fire Toronto Sunday services. The role focuses on delivering a warm, excellent retail experience by actively assisting patrons in selecting books, Bibles, and merchandise, maintaining precise point-of-sales (POS) operations, and keeping the retail environment clean, organized and inviting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet visitors warmly and cultivate an inviting atmosphere aligned with ministry standards.
- Assist customers with inquiries, offering helpful recommendations for books, Bibles, and ministry event merchandise.
- Provide attentive, courteous service throughout every shift to ensure high customer satisfaction.
Retail Operations & POS Management
- Operate the POS terminal accurately to process cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Ensure accurate shift reconciliation and handle financial transactions with integrity.
- Maintain familiarity with store promotions, pricing, and current stock.
Merchandising & Inventory Control
- Unpack, receive, and restock inventory onto the sales floor.
- Maintain clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing merchandise displays.
- Ensure retail shelves and display fixtures are kept tidy, stocked, and dust-free.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first approach.
- High accuracy and attention to detail when operating POS equipment and handling payments.
- Ability to lift, handle, and arrange boxed books and retail merchandise.
- Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to working assigned Sunday shifts.
Experience
- Previous experience in retail, customer service, cash handling, or inventory management is considered an asset.
DETAILS
Report To: Retail Manager
Type: Part-Time (4.5 hours/weekly)
Schedule: Sundays, 9:00am - 1:30pm
Pay: $17.95/hr
Note: Additional hours may be available for special events or conferences.
