The Lumistella Company is a global intellectual property company dedicated to bringing Santa’s North Pole to life for children around the world through consumer products, original entertainment and brand experiences. We are home to the most iconic and beloved Christmas brands of this generation including The Elf on the Shelf, Elf Pets, and Elf Mates.
The Senior Director, Product Line Merchandising Strategy & Assortment Planning will be the strategic architect and hands-on driver of this capability. You’ll create the operating model, tools, and rhythms that don’t exist today, then use them to build compelling, retailer-ready assortments and pitches that win space, grow revenue, and strengthen long-term brand equity across 36 countries.
This is a leadership role for someone who loves building: you’ll be a galvanizer who can align creative and commercial teams, turn analysis into clear decisions, and move a seasonal line from concept to shelf and digital conversion with discipline while leading and mentoring a growing team.
The Senior Director, Product Line Merchandising Strategy & Assortment Planning will:
- Lead Seasonal Portfolio & Assortment Strategy: Own seasonal line planning across channels, establishing value ladders, pricing architecture, hero platforms, and channel-specific assortment strategies that drive growth and conversion.
- Drive Assortment Productivity & Portfolio Optimization: Use data and insights to optimize SKU productivity, rationalize underperforming items, and focus resources on scalable, revenue-driving product platforms.
- Develop Retailer Selling Stories & Growth Strategies: Create compelling retailer and distributor narratives, assortment presentations, and customer-specific recommendations that secure shelf space, digital placement, and increased visibility.
- Accelerate Digital & E-Commerce Performance: Partner with Sales and Marketing to build product assortments, bundling strategies, and merchandising approaches that improve online conversion and retail.com performance.
- Build and Lead the Merchandising Planning Function: Establish the operating model, tools, processes, performance metrics, and cross-functional planning cadence that enable effective line planning and decision-making.
- Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams: Manage and mentor merchandising talent while fostering a culture of accountability, agility, collaboration, and results-oriented execution.
If you want to be one of us...

- 12+ years in line planning, assortment strategy, merchandising/category strategy, portfolio strategy, or product strategy (consumer products, toys, seasonal, collectibles, or licensed products strongly preferred)
- Proven ability to lead cross-functionally across Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Product Development, Creative, and Marketing
- Strong commercial fluency: sell-through, pricing architecture, promo/markdown dynamics, SKU productivity, and assortment optimization
- Excellent storyteller: can translate strategy into retailer-ready narratives that win
- Comfortable in ambiguity and energized by building a function purposefully
- Protects company assets through the proper management of asset files and adherence to company policy with regard to information security and management.
Education requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related fields such as Marketing, Business Administration, Merchandising, Supply Chain management.
