EKG Technician

As an Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, you will work with medically to critically ill patients, providing essential diagnostic EKGs used in their treatment. In this role, you will be responsive to patient needs and discomfort, work independently to enhance the healthcare experience, and offer continuous patient-centered care. You will perform diagnostic electrocardiograms to support timely and accurate clinical decisions. A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Positions and connects leads from electrocardiograph machine to electrodes on specified body areas.
• Perform Cardiac Pacemaker Interrogations.
• Reviews patients record and instructs patients prior to procedures.
• Monitors patient during procedures and reports any abnormal findings.
• Identifies and corrects for wandering, interference, and artifacts.
• Edits and forwards results to attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
• Maintains EKG equipment and supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service OR completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• Healthcare experience 

• Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology, Paramedic or Medical Assistant Program 

• Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
• Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
• Extensive walking and standing.

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
