Mercy Hospital’s Same Day Surgery Unit handles less complicated surgeries than those that require an overnight hospital stay. A high percentage of these patients have their surgery and go home the same day. The Same Day Surgery team is known for their close-knit team and enjoyable work environment. As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) on the team, you will coordinate with fellow caregivers to create a welcoming, healing and warm environment for patients. As one of the first people patients and families encounter, you will help set a calm and reassuring tone during what can be an anxious time. By assisting with check-in, guiding patients through the process and communicating needs to the care team, this position helps improve patient flow, reduce stress and ensure patients feel respected, informed and cared for from the moment they arrive.

Requirements

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
