For over 60 years, The Guidance Center has been a primary mental health support agency, providing compassionate, professional care to individuals and families in Cumberland County, NJ. As a non-profit organization, our dedicated team of professionals, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff, works to diagnose and treat all types of mental illness.

As the Assistant Director of Community Support Services at Cumberland County Guidance Center, you will play a pivotal role in advocating for individuals while facilitating crucial service linkages and community integration for program participants. Your responsibilities will include supporting the development of essential daily living and social skills, conducting comprehensive rehabilitation assessments and plans, and providing timely crisis intervention when required. Working under clinical supervision, you will contribute to effective program oversight and maintain regulatory compliance while spearheading quality improvement initiatives.

Additionally, you will facilitate key administrative processes, including the management of representative payee funds and provide valuable in-field supervision alongside staff training. To excel as the Assistant Director of Community Support Services at Cumberland County Guidance Center, candidates should possess a Master's degree from an accredited institution in a human service discipline, such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling. Active New Jersey licensure (LAC, LAMFT, or LSW) is essential, along with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience and two years in mental or behavioral health settings. Successful candidates will demonstrate a thorough knowledge of community resources and agencies, enabling them to effectively advocate for program participants. A valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean five-year driving record is required to ensure compliance with organizational insurance standards. While Spanish-speaking skills are preferred, they are not mandatory.

Additionally, a willingness to work a flexible 40-hour schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and participation in an on-call rotation is crucial for success in this dynamic role.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a human service discipline (e.g. Social Work Psychology Counseling)
  • Active New Jersey licensure: LAC LAMFT or LSW
