Our client is seeking a highly experienced and hands-on General Manager to lead all aspects of operations for a custom cabinetry manufacturing business. This individual will have full accountability for operational performance, including P&L ownership, production excellence, quality, safety, and team leadership across a workforce of 120+ employees.

This role requires a deep understanding of high-end custom cabinetry and millwork manufacturing, including finishes, quality standards, and precision production processes. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who can balance strategic vision with shop-floor execution, driving operational efficiency while maintaining craftsmanship excellence.

The General Manager will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of the leadership team, regularly presenting KPIs, financial performance, and operational insights to the Board and executive leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the CEO, acting as the senior operational leader of the business
  • Prepare and present KPI dashboards, financial performance, and operational updates to the Board and executive leadership
  • Translate business strategy into actionable operational plans and measurable outcomes
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support growth, investment, and operational decisions
  • Lead all day-to-day operations across manufacturing, production, engineering, and support functions
  • Oversee a workforce of 120+ employees, ensuring productivity, engagement, and accountability
  • Drive efficient workflow, capacity planning, and on-time project delivery in a custom, project-based environment
  • Maintain alignment between design, engineering, production, and installation teams
  • Own full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Drive profitability through operational efficiency, waste reduction, and improved throughput
  • Monitor and report on key financial and operational KPIs, including labor efficiency, margins, and job costing
  • Leverage QuickBooks (ERP/accounting system) to manage financial visibility, reporting accuracy, and operational insights
  • Ensure superior execution of custom cabinetry and architectural millwork, including finishes, detailing, and installation readiness
  • Uphold rigorous quality standards, achieving high first-pass yield and minimal rework
  • Partner with engineering and drafting teams to ensure manufacturability and precision
  • Oversee materials sourcing, vendor relationships, and purchasing strategies
  • Lead implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Optimize workflows and systems (including QuickBooks and production tracking tools) to enhance visibility and efficiency
  • Improve production throughput, reduce lead times, and increase on-time delivery performance
  • Maintain full accountability for onsite safety programs and OSHA compliance
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and operational discipline
  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory and environmental standards
  • Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams across operations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement
  • Lead hiring, training, and workforce development initiatives
  • Drive clear communication from executive leadership to the shop floor

Requirements

  • 10–15+ years of leadership experience in custom cabinetry, millwork, or related manufacturing
  • Proven success managing large-scale operations (100+ employees)
  • Demonstrated ownership of P&L and operational performance
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and/or Board-level stakeholders
  • Experience operating within QuickBooks or similar ERP/accounting systems
  • Deep knowledge of custom cabinetry manufacturing processes, materials, and finishes
  • Strong experience building and reporting on KPIs and operational dashboards
  • Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks preferred), workflow optimization, and job costing
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing / continuous improvement methodologies
  • Ability to balance hands-on operational leadership with strategic planning
  • Strong, visible leader with a hands-on, shop-floor presence
  • Proven ability to build and lead cross-functional teams
  • Data-driven decision maker with strong business acumen
  • Executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively with the CEO, Board, and frontline teams
