Java Programmer

This position is an on-site position in the Jefferson City, Missouri or Overland Park, Kansas office. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide full life cycle development with JAVA.
• Understand coding standards and implement them within code being developed.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems and provide solutions.
• Ability to communicate with the users to determine problems or design requirements.
• Ability to work on a team to complete programming projects in a timely manner.
• Ability to document changes and follow the Systems Development Life Cycle process independently.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
• Other duties assigned by the Manager of Application Development.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in JAVA programming, and programming in a Tomcat environment (Java Servlets, JSP).
• Knowledge of: JAVA, JavaScript, JDBC, SQL, Gradle, HTML, React, and CSS Design Tokens.
• Experience with or demonstrated ability to learn: Spring Boot, Tomcat, Spring Data JPA, and Containers/Docker/Kubernetes.
• Front-end experience with React, CSS Modules and React Query.  A willingness to build against a design-token source (CSS Design Tokens) that generates CSS, Swift and Android outputs.
• Experience working with RESTful web services, JSON, and XML is desired; familiarity with API security using OAuth 2.0 and OIDC with PKCE and per-endpoint scope enforcement is a plus.
• Experience with Gradle builds, dependency/SBOM management, and CI/CD as code (Bitbucket Pipelines) is desired.
• Experience in building, testing, and distributing iOS and Android applications is desired; exposure to Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin/Jetpack Compose is a plus.
• Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools: using AI coding assistants and design-to-code generation effectively with standard prompts, shared design tokens, the judgment to review, test and correct AI-generated code before it is committed.
• Ability to write clear, well-scoped prompts and to recognize when AI output needs human verification.
• General familiarity with AI application concepts such as conversational assistants, insight generation, document Q&A, and model serving is a plus.
• Understanding of responsible and secure AI use in a regulated banking environment, including not exposing credentials, source code or customer data to external tools, and respecting licensing and compliance requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with both the business community and the technical community.

• High School diploma or equivalent
• BS or BA in Computer Science or related field
