Senior AIX Developer / System Engineer Operations

Project Details:

We are seeking an experienced professional to design, further develop, and ensure the high-availability operation of our IBM AIX-based IT infrastructure. The position encompasses both system development and operational tasks in the area of enterprise server landscapes on IBM Power Systems, including virtualization, automation, and performance tuning. The role requires excellent German language skills for coordination with internal departments, external partners, auditors, as well as for the preparation of technical documentation.

Main Tasks
1. Architecture & Development
•Design and implementation of AIX system architectures with a focus on scalability, security, and high availability.
•Development of Bash, KornShell, and Python scripts for automating system administration processes.
•Creation of adjustments and system extensions in close coordination with application development.
•Integration of new hardware and software solutions into existing AIX environments.
2. Operations & Administration
•Administration and operation of complex AIX production systems including LPAR/DLPAR management.
•Management and optimization of PowerVM, VIOS, and HMC configurations.
•Planning and execution of patching and upgrade processes.
•Proactive monitoring and performance optimization.
•Incident analysis, troubleshooting, and incident management in line with ITIL standards.
3. Security & Compliance
•Implementation of security hardening measures (e.g., CIS benchmarks, RBAC configurations).
•Creation and maintenance of backup and recovery concepts.

•Support during audits and implementation of regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
4. Project Work & Collaboration
•Technical consulting and support for projects in the AIX environment.
•Close cooperation with storage, network, and application teams.
•Preparation of detailed technical documentation and operational manuals in German.

Requirements
Technical:
•Several years of experience in AIX administration (version 7.x and above).
•Strong knowledge of IBM Power Systems and PowerVM.
•Experience in shell scripting (KSH, Bash) and automation.
•Knowledge of HMC, VIOS, NPIV, SEA configurations.
•Experience with backup and restore strategies (e.g., mksysb, savevg).
•Basic knowledge of SAN and network architectures.
•Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
Methodological:
•ITIL knowledge and experience in structured incident, problem, and change management.
•Experience with automated deployment and monitoring tools.
•Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
Language:
•Excellent German skills, spoken and written (at least C1).
•Good English skills for international project work.
