Chip’s mission is to make your life wealthy

We're building the wealth super app of the future. An app to build your long-term wealth across savings, investments and pensions.

We use technology to break down barriers so users can invest like the ultra-wealthy, giving them one simple place to manage, grow and protect their wealth.

The Sunday Times listed Chip as the 6th fastest growing tech company in Britain… and we're not slowing down. Chip serves over 400,000 active customers and looks after over £6billion in assets. These customers trust us to build the most amazing product we can, so working at Chip comes with real purpose.

Chip is being built by a fast-growing team of designers, developers, customer service professionals, marketers, banking experts, and entrepreneurs. Our funding story though is a little different. Chip is one of the most crowd-funded businesses in Europe, having raised over £50m from 29,000 investors, over 9 years. Crowdfunding is in our DNA and only Brewdog has more investors than Chip.

The most important thing is credibility, judgement, and practicality. We want someone who can operate independently, handle difficult situations calmly, and become a trusted People partner to the business.

Mindset and approach

  • Highly practical and operational in approach.

  • Calm and confident handling sensitive employee situations.

  • Commercially minded and solutions-focused rather than process-heavy for the sake of it.

  • Comfortable making judgement calls and operating with ambiguity.

  • Direct, clear communicator who can hold People conversations professionally.

  • Someone who understands how to balance employee experience with business needs and risk management.

  • Positive, grounded, and resilient under pressure.

People skills and experience

  • Strong People generalist experience (ideally 10-15 years), ideally within financial services or another regulated environment.

  • Solid knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations processes.

  • Experience independently managing complex ER cases from start to finish.

  • Experience supporting managers with performance management and organisational change.

  • Strong operational People foundations across policy, process, and compliance.

  • Able to influence and build credibility with senior stakeholders and managers.

  • Comfortable working hands-on in a scaling environment.

  • Experience mentoring or developing People team members.

  • AI curious: open to using AI tools and automation to improve People workflows and efficiency.

Domain knowledge

  • Experience within financial services, fintech, banking, insurance, or another regulated industry.

  • Exposure to scaling businesses or high-growth environments.

  • CIPD qualification

  • Stakeholder and communication skills

  • Comfortable working directly with senior leadership on sensitive people matters.

  • Able to navigate challenging conversations confidently and professionally.

  • Clear, direct communicator — written and verbal — who can simplify complex People situations into practical recommendations.

  • Strong judgement and ability to build trust quickly across the business.
