Job Summary:

A Cook enthusiastically adheres to all Choice Foodservices Inc.’s standards and expectations of food quality, freshness, and presentation.  Works in a high-volume food production environment, with a passion for producing high-quality food.  Committed to meet or exceed the expectations and goals of Choicelunch in providing healthy school lunches.  The routine schedule is Sunday through Thursday day shift / early start (6am most days)


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:  

  • Produce quality food in a high-volume production environment
  • Maintain temperature logs and adhere to food safety best practices
  • Maintain a clean workspace and enforce cross-contamination prevention best practices
  • Taste food products to ensure quality
  • Read and accurately follow recipes, production plans, and reports
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, &/or ability required.   • Self-starter
  • Flexible
  • Works well with others in a TEAM Environment
  • Skilled in the use of all kitchen equipment
  • 1-2 years of high-volume cooking experience  
  • A current CA Food Handler or ServSafe Certification.  Certification will be required if hired. 
  • High School equivalent education
  • Ability to read and write in English


Physical demands and work environment: 

  • Physical demands: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear taste with a discernable palate.  Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and safely. Specific vision abilities required by the job require close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, and on occasion may be exposed to cold temperatures in the walk-in refrigerator.  The noise level is usually moderate
