[Job-32012] Forward Deployed Engineer – Senior Java

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with strong Senior Java engineering experience and hands-on expertise using AI-assisted development tools in real software delivery environments.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines deep technical knowledge of enterprise Java systems with a practical understanding of modern AI-enabled engineering workflows. You will work directly with existing applications and engineering teams, using AI development tools to understand complex codebases, accelerate development, modernize legacy systems, improve test coverage, and support structured software development practices.

  Work hands-on with complex, existing Java applications and enterprise codebases.

  Analyze and reverse-engineer existing systems to understand architecture, dependencies, business logic, and technical constraints.

  Use AI-assisted development tools as an integral part of the engineering workflow, including code generation, analysis, refactoring, testing, and documentation.

  Apply structured AI development approaches, including reverse engineering, Spec-Driven Development (SDD), and automated test generation.

  Refactor and modernize existing Java applications, including the removal or replacement of legacy dependencies and outdated components.

  Generate and improve automated tests to support safe modernization and refactoring.

  Collaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to translate requirements and existing system behavior into maintainable technical solutions.

  Help establish effective, repeatable AI-assisted development practices that can be shared across engineering teams.

  Maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and software engineering best practices.

• Strong Java development experience, ideally within enterprise environments and complex existing systems.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java application development, maintenance, refactoring, and modernization.

• At least 3 months of hands-on experience using Cursor as the primary AI code-generation tool within a team project, OR at least 6 months of practical experience with comparable AI coding tools, such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, Antigravity, or similar.

• Practical experience with shared, structured AI development workflows, particularly reverse engineering and/or Spec-Driven Development (SDD).

• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted workflows for test generation.

• Practical experience refactoring existing Java systems to remove or replace legacy dependencies.

• Strong ability to understand and navigate unfamiliar and complex codebases.

• Solid software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, automated testing, version control, and collaborative development practices.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.

• Knowledge of legacy Microsoft IE5 HTCs and DHTML architectures.

• Experience working with Oracle Database schema upgrades and/or stored procedures.

• Previous experience working with Oracle JDK 8.

• Previous experience working in a consulting environment.
