What you will accomplish as a Divisional Controller at TAPCO:

The Division Controller is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance for the TAPCO division. This role leads month-end and year-end close, oversees key accounting processes, maintains a strong internal control environment, and develops a high-performing accounting team. The Division Controller also drives continuous improvement through automation, analytics, and responsible adoption of AI tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and decision-making. 

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

  • →Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • →Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • →Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • →Oversee treasury operations, debt accounting, payroll accounting, and fixed assets.
  • →Ensure accurate revenue recognition and balance sheet integrity.
  • →Analyze financial results and resolve accounting issues. 

Tax, Controls & Compliance

  • →Oversee sales and use tax compliance activities.
  • →Execute and monitor internal accounting controls.
  • →Maintain audit-ready documentation and support external audits.
  • →Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • →Drive remediation and continuous improvement of control processes. 

Leadership & Team Development

  • →Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for direct reports.
  • →Establish clear expectations and measurable goals.
  • →Develop team capabilities through cross-training and professional development.
  • →Promote a culture of ownership, accuracy, continuous improvement, and accountability. 

Continuous Improvement & AI Enablement

  • →Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate accounting processes.
  • →Leverage approved AI tools and automation technologies across the accounting function to improve productivity and reporting quality.
  • →Train and develop team members on responsible AI usage and validation practices.
  • →Partner with Finance and IT leadership to enhance accounting systems, workflows, and analytics.
  • →Establish metrics and dashboards to improve visibility into close performance, reconciliation status, and process efficiency. 

Key Measurables

  • →Month-End Close completed accurately and on schedule.
  • →Year-End Close completed accurately and on schedule.
  • →External Audit completed on time with minimal audit adjustments.
  • →100% completion of assigned balance sheet reconciliations.
  • →No significant control, compliance, or documentation deficiencies.
  • →Completion of annual process improvement and AI adoption initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • →Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • →7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility.
  • →Experience in manufacturing environments required.
  • →Experience with software, SaaS, subscription, or ASC 606 revenue recognition preferred.
  • →Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
  • →Demonstrated success leading close processes, process improvement initiatives, and accounting teams.
  • →Advanced Excel, ERP, reporting, and financial systems proficiency.
  • →Curiosity and willingness to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance accounting operations.
