This is a full-time temporary opportunity anticipated to last 8–12 months Onsite in our Lexington, KY facility supporting manufacturing  operations during an employee’s active military leave.   The Interim Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes to produce forklifts and Material Handling Equipment: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards. Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency. Responsible to plan, perform and coordinate all manufacturing and material functions with direct responsibility to develop manufacturing systems and documentation.  This position is an Onsite position on FIRST SHIFT located in our Lexington, KY manufacturing facility.    To assist the manufacturing operation in the attainment of manufacturing and/or warehouse goals; including, standards of quality, cost per unit, number of units and inventory accuracy; through process control, documentation, training, and leadership of the manufacturing workforce according to standards of good manufacturing and warehouse practices.  Must be able to troubleshoot problems throughout the plant and provide assistance to minimize delays, loss of production time, etc.    Essential Functions:   Provide directions and support to your assigned areas to include one or more of the following departments:  manufacturing, modification, paint, inventory and warehouse personnel in the attainment of production schedules; including, but not limited to: Training employees in proper work procedures. Training employees in proper equipment and tool usage. Develop and maintain manufacturing processes and work instructions for entire warehouse and manufacturing facility.  Includes but not limited to: assembly, modification, paint, weld and shipping/receiving. Design and document tooling, fixtures, jigs, assembly stations, work benches, storage racks to improve safety, quality, and productivity. Ensure equipment is calibrated and functioning properly. Understand, support and communicate quality goals. Identify and correct quality issues that negatively affect production efficiency and customer satisfaction. Identify and correct issues that negatively affect production schedule attainment. Identify and address facility layout and processing issues that negatively affect production schedule attainment or quality goals. Establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment that is compliant with all regulations. Emphasis on continuous improvement in direct labor process balance, flow of material, and efficient use of space and equipment. Troubleshoot areas and identify problems on lift trucks. Problems include electrical, hydraulic, material-related, construction and/or assembly. Create and maintain records such as MSDS (GHS) sheets, processes, policies, and procedures. Establish and maintain a system for implementing bill of material changes based on effective dates. Ensure processes are revised to match engineering changes and employees are taught new methods and procedures, as well as securing any tooling required to implement the change. Support and help to enforce all company policies; including, safety housekeeping, environmental, financial, and reporting and discipline. Ensure the production of a quality product at minimal cost. Basic Qualifications:   A Degree in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or equivalent. 1 to 3 years experience in writing processes in a manufacturing environment. 1 to 3 years’ experience working with engineering bill of materials and engineering changes in a controlled inventory and production environment. 1 to 3 years’ experience on CAD system.  Preferably NX or IDEAS. Ability to perform basic warehouse functions. Must be able to read blueprints, installations/process sheets, wiring diagrams. Working knowledge and use of computers, Microsoft office and warehouse management programs. Basic mechanical understanding of fork truck design and operation. Must be authorized to work in the US Indefinitely   ENVIRONMENTAL / PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: The incumbent is located in a Warehouse & Manufacturing environment which is described as follows: May encounter loud noise, varying temperatures (including cold in winter due to open dock doors and heat during summer and from the operation of equipment.  Various machinery and equipment may generate loud noise and vibration.  The incumbent may come into contact with oil, grease, paint, solvents and other potentially hazardous materials.  The incumbent may also encounter dust, fumes, flying debris, and fast moving machinery, such as forklift trucks. The incumbent may be exposed to any of a wide range of conditions if required to travel outside the home based facility. This could include visiting a manufacturing location, the engineering test lab, a customer site, distribution center, etc.
