Position Summary
The Lead I – Service is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and coordination of
service operations within a pork processing facility. This position supports production by
ensuring service functions such as material handling, supplies distribution, equipment support,
sanitation support, waste removal, and operational readiness are completed safely, efficiently,
and in compliance with company standards. The Lead I serves as a working lead, providing
guidance, training, and support to team members while helping supervisors achieve operational
goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Provide daily direction and work assignments to service team members.
Coordinate staffing and workflow to support production schedules and operational needs.
Monitor work performance and provide coaching, feedback, and support.
Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations.
Communicate departmental priorities, safety expectations, and operational updates.
Service Operations
Ensure timely delivery of supplies, tools, packaging materials, and equipment to
production areas.
Coordinate collection and removal of waste, recyclable materials, and non-product
materials.
Monitor service activities to ensure uninterrupted production support.
Assist with setup, changeovers, and operational support activities.
Maintain organization and cleanliness of service areas, storage locations, and supply
inventories.
Support equipment movement and material handling activities as needed.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
Promote safe work practices and immediately address unsafe conditions.
Conduct routine inspections of work areas and equipment.
Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Participate in safety meetings, audits, and corrective action activities.
