Coilcraft, Inc. is a privately held global manufacturer headquartered in Cary, Illinois, with a 75+ year reputation for quality and engineering excellence. Our high-performance magnetic components serve customers across telecommunications, computing, automotive, broadband communications, and consumer electronics worldwide. We are seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our Purchasing team. In this role, you'll help develop and manage a reliable supplier base while working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to ensure materials meet Coilcraft's expectations for quality, cost, availability, and delivery.
About the Role
~1 min read- Identify, evaluate, select, and develop suppliers that meet requirements for cost, quality, delivery, availability, and reliability
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Support supplier qualification activities, data collection and analysis, reporting, and corrective and preventive actions
- Identify opportunities to improve material value, quality, processing, and overall cost
- Initiate supply agreements and support procurement activities for materials used in manufacturing operations
- Investigate supplier-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective actions
- Work with Engineering and Operations to maintain and improve material specifications while reducing product variation, processing costs, and scrap
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to involve suppliers early in new product development and product modification initiatives
- Visit suppliers as needed to evaluate capabilities, quality, processes, and opportunities for improvement
- Administer online purchasing systems and maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 2–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop productive relationships with suppliers and internal departments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Nice to Have

- Knowledge of inventory control and materials management
- Familiarity with ISO/IATF 16949 requirements
- Experience with purchasing and shipping processes
- Experience with supplier qualification, development, and corrective actions
- Experience working directly with Engineering and Manufacturing teams
- Familiarity with supplier negotiations and supply agreements
- Play an important role in supporting a global manufacturing organization
- Develop relationships with suppliers while working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations
